This concert took place in a rather small venue which was part of Munich's former airport. Although small, the show was not sold out, due to the hot temperatures that day and the rather expensive ticket price, which only made sense after the show, since this was a major production on a small stage.

German industrial music pioneers Die Krupps openend the evening with a solid 45 minute set.

To many concert goers this must have been the first encounter with Nine Inch Nails, because the crowd did not went nuts from the very beginning of the show, it seemed more frightened by the appearence of Trent Reznor and Robin Finck and their violent stage show, which keyboarder Charlie Clouser must have experienced as painful every night of the tour.

35 to 40 minutes into the set and a crowd still with their mouths open, power broke down completely and the band went off stage. Judging from their aggressive behaviour, not few people thought this to be the end of the show. But after a long 20 minutes wait the band reappeared and started again with a verocious version of Queen's "Get down, make love", then finishing the regular set.

On the American leg of the "Mr. Self Destruct" Tour the band performed in venues 20 times the size of the Charterhalle, using a big canvas to visualize tracks like "Hurt". In Munich this was impossible, since the screen itself would have covered the whole venue. But this was the last time in Munich (and most likely everwhere else) that one had the chance to easily walk up to the front row at a Nine Inch Nails show, stand there and watch the band what they do best.
