It is one of the more abstract and non-traditional songs on the album, with its structure based around a drawn-out crescendo. The song begins quietly with scratching noises percussion and layered ambient sounds layered togetherand Reznor whispering the first two lines over and over. An underwater-like melody begins This gives way to the building of the crescendo, as new drums enter and synthesizers playone of the prominent melodies of the song, with Reznor whispering above themall equalized to sound as if underwater. The melody stopscrossfades with another, this one played on guitar, and tone of the song shifts, becoming darker, as the song gradually builds to its climax. A looped guitar and : a simple, drum stream is played throughout with electronic noises moving on top. Finally, the -driven rhythm matched by distorted guitars come in, and synthesizers.
