The men and women chosen for the unit were first put through an extensive, grueling training regime. Notably, the website states, "For the first time in our active service, our faith became the sword instead of just the shield.", emphasizing the religious motivations of their campaign in Syria, as well as signifying the cohesion of Church and State in the new Administration.
