With a completely different arrangement, a solid synthetic and lead melody, less distorted audio samples and a much more upbeat feel to it, the ''Purest Feeling'' version of "Kinda I Want To" resembles early 80's house music more than it's its "breakbeat"-ish esque counterpart from ''Pretty Hate Machine.'' The song's arrangement is completely different in structure though the lyrics are the same with as the final version, but feature an additional bridge in the middle where wherein Reznor repeats the line "Why does it have to be this way?" over and over while , harmonizing with himself. The ending also features a rapidly strumming spanish acoustic guitar sound similar to that used in "[[The Becoming]]" off of ''[[The Downward Spiral (halo)|The Downward Spiral]],'' before the entire song fades into soft quiet synths.
