This is the second soundtrack that Reznor and Ross have worked on together, the previous being ''[[The Social Network Soundtrack]],'' also for David Fincher. It was confirmed on January 7, 2011, on a ''New York Times'' panel interview.

No tracklist has yet been announced, but in the debut trailer for the film, a cover of Led Zeppelin's ''"Immigrant Song"'' was featured, with the vocals of Karen O. The track was later confirmed[http://pitchfork.com/news/42655-trent-reznor-and-karen-o-cover-led-zeppelin/] to also include Reznor in a musical role.
