The first public notice of the band happened on December 6, 2023, with the announcement of the band lineups for the release of the Fortnite Festival game mode (a ''Guitar Hero''/''Rock Band'' play-alike) in the popular ''Fortnite'' video game. WitchGang was a conspicuously conspicuous in the lineup as an unknown, brand-new band included alongside extremely popular and well-known established bands in from the music industry. Witchgang's two singles, "Nothing's Alright" and "Timeless", had been released on digital music platforms a couple weeks prior, and their social media profiles had launched a week earlier, to no notice by anyone.

The identities of the famous musicians behind the virtual group project were soon discovered by reading the song credits available on the digital music platforms. Upon inspecting the trademark registrations for WitchGang, it was discovered that they are registered to a Reznor/Ross joint holding company (TRARMSA, LLC (Trent Reznor-Atticus Ross Master Services Agreement)), seemingly confirming the principal roles of Reznor and Ross in the inception and stewardship of the supergroup band.
