History
The side project of Maynard James Keenan emerged in 2003 with the release of the song "REV 22:20" on the on the Underworld Soundtrack. The same suit followed as "The Undertaker " (Renholdër Mix), an apparent remix by Danny Lohner, was released on the film's sequel soundtrack for Underworld: Evolution. Yet another remix of "REV 22:20 " was released on the soundtrack for SAW II. It was remixed by Charlie Clouser.
The band's full length debut album, V Is For Vagina, was released on October 31st, 2007 after heavy work throughout 2006 and 2007. Process in recording consisted of work on the road using road sound equipment during Tool's tour in support of their 2006 release 10,000 Days.
A remix album of V Is For Vagina was released in April of 2008. The album is titled V Is For Viagra and features mixes from Danny Lohner and Lustmord , among others.
Recently, on On the official Puscifer website's store , a digital -only release of remixes done by Lustmord was released in October of 2008. It is entitled D Is For Dubby—The Lustmord Remixes.
A remix of "Lighten, Up Francis" was released on the Underworld: Rise of the Lycans soundtrack in 2009. Most recently, the band has released a new EP featuring 4 studio recorded tracks and 2 live tracks, entitled "C" Is for (Please Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference HERE). Very curiously a song on the EP entitled "Potions" features written credits to Trent Reznor, which arises speculation to infer that the song is an unused Tapeworm track.
Members
According to Keenan's MySpace page, the band members include "Maynard James Keenan and a revolving door of talented people. The current list of guest musicians: Renholdër (Danny Lohner), Milla Jovovich, Lisa Germano, Josh Eustis, Satan, and more…" Keenan has worked on Puscifer material most recently with Lustmord, Jonny Polonski, Tim Alexander, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Ainjel Emme, Gil Sharone, and Trey Gunn among others.
Relationship to Tapeworm
It has also been rumored that some of the tracks released by Puscifer are actually renamed and reworked versions of the original Tapeworm tracks. The band has released an EP featuring four studio recorded tracks and two live tracks, entitled "C" Is for (Please Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference HERE). Very curiously, a song on the EP entitled "Potions" features written credits to Trent Reznor. Keenan explained that it was a Tapeworm song, recorded by Puscifer as a "wedding gift" to Reznor.
