The Jesus and Mary Chain is a Scottish alternative rock band, recently reactivated in 2007 after their original breakup in 1999. Primary contributors are the Reid brothers, Jim and William. The band draws heavily from garage rock and noise and is a forerunner of the shoegaze genre.
Nine Inch Nails were the opening act for the Jesus and Mary Chain's 1990 tour in support of their third record, Automatic. Their song "Snakedriver" appears alongside Nine Inch Nails' rendition of "Dead Souls" on the 1994 soundtrack to The Crow.
