"Personal Jesus" is a song originally recorded by Depeche Mode, covered solo by Trent Reznor for the Depeche Mode tribute album For The Masses sometime around 1998. It, along with Smash Mouth's cover of "People Are People" and Foo Fighters' cover of "Master and Servant", was subsequently cut from the album between the writing of an MTV News article (May 1998) and the album's release (August 1998).

Reach out, touch faith Your own personal Jesus Someone to hear your prayers Someone who cares Your own personal Jesus Someone to hear your prayers Someone who's there Feeling unknown And you're all alone Flesh and bone By the telephone Lift up the receiver I'll make you a believer Take second best Put me to the test Things on your chest You need to confess I will deliver You know I'm a forgiver Reach out, touch faith Reach out, touch faith Your own personal Jesus Someone to hear your prayers Someone who cares Your own personal Jesus Someone to hear your prayers Someone who's there Feeling unknown And you're all alone Flesh and bone By the telephone Lift up the receiver I'll make you a believer I will deliver You know I'm a forgiver Reach out, touch faith Your own personal Jesus Reach out, touch faith Reach out, touch faith Reach out, touch faith (Reach out, reach out) Reach out, touch faith Reach out and touch faith
