A remix artist, posting under the name Lee Reznor, took the 43-second leak of "Metal" (before its official release) and built a complete song around it with a combination of original music and samples from "Pinion" and "Down In It". [4] It was first released via a post on alt.music.nin on February 7, 2000. [5]
One (Ardisson Remix)
A 65-second teaser snippet of "The Way Out Is Through" was posted as background music to nin.com at http://nin.com/one.swf [6]. It possibly later circulated on Napster as a fan remix based on that snippet, titled "One (Ardisson Remix)". There were also files posted to the website later called two.swf and three.swf, that were additional excerpts from "The Way Out Is Through".
