Use in The Fragile (halo)?
Seeing as the various versions of TF have different tracklisintgs, do we use a succession box for each format, for each disc/tape/record, or just mark the numbers differently?
For example, Please:
Preceded by: | The Mark Has Been Made (CD+Cassette) 10 Miles High (Vinyl) |
---|---|
Track Number: | 17 (CD+Cassette) 18 (Vinyl) |
Succeeded by: | Starfuckers, Inc |
or
Preceded by: | The Mark Has Been Made (CD+Cassette) 10 Miles High (Vinyl) |
---|---|
Track Number: | 17 (CD+Cassette) 18 (Vinyl) |
Succeeded by: | Starfuckers, Inc |
Or shall we simply assume that the CD is being used (this brings problems for tracks that feature only on the vinyl of course) sheepdeanis in your base killing your d00ds 09:12, 31 March 2009 (PDT)
Also:
Preceded by: | The Mark Has Been Made |
---|---|
Track Number: | 17 |
Succeeded by: | Starfuckers, Inc |
Preceded by: | 10 Miles High |

Track Number: | 18 |
Succeeded by: | Starfuckers, Inc |
Use in non-studio albums?
Should we use the box for live albums and seeds? This would obviously create the problem of very cluttered song pages, but it may be of interest for some people. And Still, is hard too, it features tracks previously featured, so those songs would get double boxed ... ideas? sheepdean Try to speak as clearly as you can 03:50, 1 June 2009 (PDT)
Succession box mk.2
My idea for a better-looking succession box (and seasons - it can be placed at the top, but the only code to force it there screw up the page more than you can imagine, so it's either a manual move or Tony installs some javascript

- problems with using a modified version of wikipedia's box are - we'd have to manually alter every song page to add the extra details, and there's a LOT of them - using the album on art on each page would be a big waste of server space, so just generally a bad idea, but creating a template with room for an image and not using it every time would mean white space - there's already a lot of information in those song boxes, and colour-coding them, simple as it looks on page view, is not - wikipedia use a separate template for the colours because different colours have different meaning.
- However, what we could do is have the box at top and bottom, one being part of the song template, one as the normal box. I don't like pinching things from wiki, and something as code-intensive as that infernal thing is pointless. The succession box would work best at top and bottom, but my variety of wiki-knowing people have all confirmed that it is impossible, without javascripting the page or raping it epically with some DIV codes, to hack a template into two. So shall I:
- get to work redesigning the song box and leave succession as is
- post this redesign and redesign song box
- this redesign only, no song box
- leave both
- all good points (unfortunately)! i like the page-wide succession box you're suggesting a lot more than the current one, for what it's worth. colours are nice... - Seasonsinthesky 09:27, 4 June 2009 (PDT)
