After several measures, this melody then shifts down one octave. After several more measures, synth bass comes in. A quick but disorienting pan to the left happens at around the two minute mark. Trent Reznor stated on nin.com/access that "Adrift And At Peace" is the conclusion to "La Mer." The song was also used by Coil with Black Sun Productions on a track entitled "Hello Victim! Awake! The Victim Gets Back His Freedom." from the album The Plastic Spider Thing: Coil Remixed.
