Connection to Year Zero

After reading lyrics (the ones on and especially off the album cut), it might have a connection with Year Zero somehow, specifically with "The Warning." Its themes of futility, returning "To nowhere back to nothing," and misanthropy shown through an apparently superior viewpoint sound like another message from The Presence.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Double Bass Drumming

Dave Grohl actually uses his tom-toms (hi-mid one or his floor one) in the drumming, not a double bass pedal. He has said on numerous occasions that he never has used those pedals and never will. Also, if you watch "Beside You In Time", you can see Josh Freese using the tom-toms when he is perfectly capable of achieving that kind of speed with a double bass pedal. Just saying. I'm a bit of a Dave Grohl fanboy, so I apologize. doomguy13

Interpretation

The lyrics of the song appear to be commenting on a person's inability to change for the better, evident in lyrics such as "You can dress it all up you can try to pretend/But you can't change anything in the end." and "Don't you fucking know what you are?/Go on get back to where you belong." Many interpretions of this song often overlook the possibility that the "you" to which Trent Reznor refers, may in fact be himself. - Disrepair 21:50, 2 April 2007
