The "polite" version changes the lyrical order: Instead of "fuck you / use you / scar you / break you", it's "use you / scar you / fuck you / break you" (which works better anyway, IMHO). Also, is "erased, over, out" an instrumental? It doesn't have lyrics per se, unless you count the outrageously stretched out "eeeeeeerrrrrrraaaaaaassssssseeeeeee mmmmmmmmeeeeeeee" that repeats over and over. (I think of it more as yet another odd instrument than actual lyrics.) --Mr z 13:48, 7 March 2007 (PST)
I believe the sounds at the beginning of the song are actually mouthpieces of various instruments being played without the instruments themselves. The buzzing sounds sound like brass mouthpieces, and the tongued airy-squeaky sounds sound like reeded woodwind mouthpieces. Can someone confirm if this is the case, perhaps by direct comparison? --Mr z 14:08, 7 March 2007 (PST)
I disagree on excluding 'kill me' from the lyrics section just because it's not in the booklet. We should be concerned with the actual words sung, not what Trent decided to print. There's not much use to this if it's just a transcription of something everyone has. Pomte 02:05, 25 March 2007 (PDT)
Eraser (Instrumental)
Would it be ok to link to a download of it, because it's so rare, and not available for commercial purchase? -Heroicraptor 14:46, 31 May 2007 (PDT)
Genesis
This might be kind of out there, but I was listening to the Genesis album Invisible Touch and the last song on it is called "The Brazilian". Part of the song sounds eerily similar to "Eraser". Take a listen at :27 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gjI67KBbRg I don't know if there's any real influence Genesis had on Reznor but I thought I'd throw it out there anyways. -Tony W. 02:46, 2 August 2010 (PDT)
- ... come on now! it's a possible influence, i guess — i could swear i've seen TR mention Genesis before — but bending a note while plucking it isn't exactly an original thing to include in a guitar riff (or a synth melody). - seasonsinthesky 13:37, 3 August 2010 (PDT)
- That's true, but the timbre of the synth sounds pretty similar and every time I hear it I think of "Eraser". -Tony W. 16:40, 3 August 2010 (PDT)
