* American author Stephen King quotes the chorus of "Hurt" in the opening pages of the final book of his ''Dark Tower'' series, ''The Dark Tower'' (2004). In an interview with [[The NIN Hotline]], he said, "I've always been a TrentRez fan—and Nails. "Hurt" says all you need to know about what life takes away. What it ALWAYS takes away in the end. A song like that is a treasure because it vocalizes what we all feel but somehow can't say.
