Get Down, Make Love
"Get Down, Make Love" is a cover of a Queen song that appears on the Sin single and the remastered version of Pretty Hate Machine. The original appears on the Queen album News Of The World. It has been played live by most incarnations of the band at one point. According to an interview Trent Reznor did with Melody Maker magazine, "Get Down, Make Love" was supposed to be a "tongue-in-cheek" cover.

Versions
Get Down, Make Love
This is the only available version. It is based around a hip-hop beat sampled from the 40 Oz of Phat Slammin Hip Hop sample CD-ROM by InVision Interactive (specifically, PARTITION A - KITS 89-91 - 90 1.wav) and also contains samples from the 1962 psychological thriller "The Cabinet Of Caligari"1, a Japanese pornographic film, and "We Will Rock You," also by Queen.
1. According to reports from Sean Beavan memorialized in the Unofficial Nine Inch Nails FAQ maintained throughout the 90s, the Caligari sample was lifted from Episode I of the late 80s Cleveland area public access cable show The Asylum for Shut-Ins: Video Psychotherapy. The sample can be seen around 28 minutes into the episode.
Live
"Get Down Make Love" has been performed live since the "Pretty Hate Machine" Promotional Tour. After the second chorus, the band typically rests, as Reznor will either sing the last line of the chorus solo, communicate with the audience, or both. He used this moment at the tour stop in Camden, NJ in 2006 to tell off someone for spitting on him.
Lyrics
Get down, make love You take my body, I give you heat You say you're hungry, I give you meat I suck your mind, you blow my head Make love inside your bed Everybody get down, make love Get down, make love Every time I get hot you want to cool down Every time I get high you say you want to come down You say it's enough In fact it's too much Every time I want to get down Get down, make love I can squeeze, you can shake me I can feel when you break me Come on so heavy when you take me You make love, you make love, you make love, you make love You can make Everybody get down, make love Get down, make love Every time I get high you want to come down Every time I get hot you say you want to cool down You say it's enough In fact it's too much Every time I want to get down Get down, make love
There is also an audio sample at the beginning of the song, from Roger Kay's 1962 film, The Cabinet Of Caligari (Link to dialogue - 0:21-0:42]):
How old were you when you first let a man make love to you? Next who was he? Next, how did you feel at the time? Next, how did you feel afterwards? What did you feel, what did you think? Were you pleased, frightened, ecstatic, disgusted? What did he say? What words did you speak? That's what I want to know, Now, tell me, now, now, all of it, now, tell me, yes!
