Versions:All The Love In The World
Live:N/A

"All the Love in the World" is the first track on Nine Inch Nails' fifth full-length album, With Teeth. The song begins with a nearly melotone Trent Reznor singing the verses and repeating, "Why do you get all the love in the world?". Synth drums are used in a slow-style IDM-esque drumbeat. About three minutes into the song an interpolation occurs. The song transitions into a set of piano chords, and slowly introduces actual drums, and eventually an electric bass.

References to other NIN songs

One line in the song's lyrics allude to the NIN song "Hurt" from The Downward Spiral. The incomplete verse "I've become a million miles aw(ay)" is reminiscent to this line from Hurt: "If I could start again/A million miles away".

Live

"All the Love in the World" was played live once on May 4th, 2005 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colorado. After performance, Trent made comment that he would never do that song live again.

Lyrics

Watching all the insects march along
Seem to know just right where they belong
Smears of face reflecting in the chrome
Hiding in the crowd I’m all alone
No one’s heard a single word I’ve said
They don’t sound as good outside my head
Looks as though the past is here to stay
    I’ve become a million miles a-

Why do you get all the love in the world?

    All the jagged edges disappear
Colors all look brighter when you’re near
The stars are all afire in the sky
Sometimes I get so lonely I could

Why do you get all the love in the world?
