Jeff Ward (November 1962–March 19, 1993) toured with Nine Inch Nails as the drummer, beginning with the Sin Tour and for all the 1991 shows, replacing Chris Vrenna who was absent during that period due to a falling out with Trent Reznor. He had also worked with Pigface, Ministry, Skafish, Revolting Cocks, Lard, and Low Pop Suicide, among others. It is assumed that Ward became acquainted with Reznor due to Reznor having worked with Al Jourgensen of Ministry and/or having toured with Revolting Cocks.
Ward died in 1993 of self-induced carbon monoxide poisoning after a long struggle with heroin addiction. The Downward Spiral contains a dedication to him in its liner notes.
