A Perfect Circle

Annie

Believed to be Andrea Mulrain. She was "a college sweetheart/ heartbreak situation" of Trent Reznor's. Her name appears in "The Becoming" and is the only name of a person to ever appear in a NIN song.

Another Version of the Truth

  • Song: The fourteenth track off of Year Zero. A remix by the Kronos Quartet and Enrique Gonzalez Müller is featured on Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D.
  • Website: Fictional website created for the story of Year Zero. On first glance, the website appears to be nothing more than a large graphic, with a simple, patriotic, (if somewhat propagandistic) American message, and it is labeled at the bottom as coming from the US Bureau of Morality. Upon more digging, a message board is revealed in which citizens are discussing many things about society, mostly involving resistance to the oppressive authority in place.

Aphex Twin

The stage name of Richard David James. He is an artist who has contributed on remixes for NIN. And, with the track "At The Heart Of It All," he is the only artist to have an original song appear on a NIN album. Outside his contributions to NIN, he is best known for his unique music style and his top 100 track, "Come to Daddy." You can read more about this artist on Wikipedia under Aphex Twin.

Appendage

A short piece of music that was tacked onto the end of "Please" on the cassette edition of The Fragile.

Art Is Resistance

Website created for the fictional world of Year Zero. Like the name, the site suggests resistance via artistic means, rather than violence.

The Art of Self Destruction, Part One

The second track off of Further Down The Spiral. This track is a remix of "Mr. Self Destruct."

Abbreviation for "All The Love In The World".

At The Heart Of It All

The seventh track on both versions of Further Down The Spiral. This track was created (and performed) by Aphex Twin, and is currently the only track to ever appear on a NIN release that is not at least partially performed by NIN. A shorter version appears on the Aphex Twin release 26 Mixes for Cash.

Avery, Eric

Former Jane's Addiction bass player who was announced to be a part of the NIN live band in early 2013. He left the band during rehearsals.

Clouser, Charlie

A former NIN band member whose activites included playing drums and keyboard, engineering, mixing, and music programming.

Coil

Electronic music act who remixed many NIN tracks. Coil member Peter Christopherson also directed several music videos and How To Destroy Angels was named after Coil's first single.

Collector, The

The third track from With Teeth. A version of this song appears in the bonus features of Beside You In Time.

Fragility

The name given to the tour in 1999-2000 that was in support of the album The Fragile. The first leg was called Fragility v1.0 and took place in Europe, Japan and Australia. The second leg was called Fragility v2.0 and took place in North America and European festivals. From the Fragility v2.0 leg of the tours, the CD/DVD/VHS, And All That Could Have Been was made.

Lohner, Danny

Former NIN member who has played bass, guitar, and synthesizer. Danny has also played for A Perfect Circle, Tapeworm, Killing Joke, Methods of Mayhem, Skrew, and Angkor Wat. Due to Trent Reznor's relationship with Marilyn Manson, Danny had also played acoustic guitar on the track "The Reflecting God" from the Antichrist Superstar album.

Lost Fragile Tracks

The label of a CD in a picture on nin.com, speculated to contain unreleased tracks from The Fragile recordings.

Lost Highway Soundtrack

The soundtrack for the David Lynch film, Lost Highway. The soundtrack was produced by Trent Reznor and features some tracks by him, as well as the NIN track, "The Perfect Drug".

Malm, John A., Jr.

Trent Reznor's former manager and co-founder of Nothing Records. He was involved in a legal clash with Reznor in 2005, which ended with him paying Reznor $2.95 million.

March Of The Pigs

  • Release: Also known as Halo 7. This was released as a teaser single prior to the album The Downward Spiral.
